Step One
Go here to choose a download from Microsoft Download Center. -
Step Two
Reboot. After the reboot, Windows Update should only take 5-10 minutes to find results. It will also take another 5 minutes or so to start downloading the updates.
This will not be the end for massive operating system updates. We hope Microsoft uses this past experience to create a better solution for the future.
